Alexander technique is an instructive method to improve the co ordination, position and the capacity to carry out even complicated motor skills. The student’s every move is observed by the trainer of Alexander Technique first and then feed back is given verbally and then special skills are taught to the students to focus on being aware of wrong movement and posture.

The actor Frederick Mathias Alexander observed that he lost his voice and his breathing affected due to wrong posture and inappropriate placement of neck, head and spine. He got back his voice using the new technique.

The reeducation therapy which teaches various kinds of movements to get better posture is known as Alexander Technique. The goal of the technique is to teach the proper way to stand up and move in order to reduce the sprain on body so that the muscle pain and tension which is caused due to bad posture is lessened.

Once while Alexander was acting he noted that his voice is tensed so he looked at himself into the reflection and noted his habits of moving, sitting and breathing pattern and corrected them which increased his voice quality.

He learned the basic activities of sitting, standing and corrected the misused patterns like holding the head..

The procedure was used to improve poor posture, anxiety, depression, stress, repeated injuries, stress associated conditions and improve performance of musicians, dancers and singers.

The Alexander Technique lasts for 30 - 45 minutes every day for nearly 15 - 30 classes which depends on the progress of student and the practice they undertake in between treatment. The student will be asked to wear baggy, relaxed clothing to the classes. The teacher asks the patient to lie with bent knees upon a table and the posture of the student is adjusted before making them stand.

The rest of the healing is carried on by asking the student to stand up. The Client’s posture is modified and adjusted in order to get maximum efficiency of muscle movement with least effort. The student is taught new poses and movements and the old habits are prevented.
